Plein Air Workshops

The focus of the instruction will be very comprehensive, starting with equipment, preparation, and set up of tools. My near thirty years of experience as an illustrator and painter will help explain the structure and emphasis on drawing, value and composition. It’s my goal to help students fully understand the process of composing a painting. Atmosphere, color, design and brushwork will be emphasized throughout the workshop experience. Each day I will do a demo describing my technique and process along the way. Both one-on-one critiques at the easel and group discussions will be held daily. My influences, both historical and contemporary, will be part of our conversation over the course of the workshop. I hope that each participant can become more visually aware and have a more solid foundation in a relaxed and positive environment.

A list of suggested supplies along with directions will be sent out upon sign-up.
